Digital Transgender Archive
Venus de Mars is a white trans woman from Duluth, Minnesota. This is the first of two interviews that the Tretter Collection holds between Jenkins and de Mars. At the time of this interview she was the founder and leader of the band All The Pretty Horses. In this oral history she speaks at length about her work in the music industry, mental health, and her involvement with the City of Lakes Crossgender Community (CLCC) during the 1980s and onward. She also touches upon Twin Cities Pride during the 1980s and onward, being intersex, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and "Ziggy Stardust".
