TAMs & Tissues, renamed the Garter Press in 1984, was the newsletter for Transvestites à Montréal (TAMs), a support group of cross-dressers and transsexuals in Montreal, Canada. In the summer of 1980, the group split into two factions: TAMs for those who identified as transvestites and W.O.M.E.N. of Montreal en Neuf for those who identified as transsexuals, though W.O.M.E.N. continued to publish articles and organizational updates in the TAMs newsletter. This collection holds an information booklet for members and 13 issues published between 1979-1984, offering beauty advice, reviews of local nightclubs, poetry, and letters to the editor. The issues are predominantly written in English, with some French newspaper clippings and letters dispersed throughout the publication.
