Digital Transgender Archive
Susan Stryker interviews Ed Hansen, a pastor who worked with young people in the Tenderloin in the 1960s, including the organization Vanguard. In this section, Hansen talks about Tenderloin sex workers, police harassment, alcohol and drugs, and young gender-non-conforming people's search for identity. Portions of this interview were used for Stryker and Victor Silverman's documentary Screaming Queens.
