An interview with Shannon TL Kearns, a white trans man, playwright, and ordained priest based in Minneapolis. At the time of this interview, he was the founder and artistic director of Uprising Theatre Company, and a co-founder of QueerTheology.com. His plays include Body+Blood, in a stand of dying trees, Line of Sight, Twisted Deaths, The Resistance of My Skin, and Who Has Eyes To See. In this oral history interview with Macalester College student Caitlyn Bergstrom, Kearns discusses his upbringing in rural Pennsylvania, his entry into queer and trans communities, time in seminary, and path to becoming an ordained priest, his founding of QueerTheology.com and thoughts on queer and trans readings of Scripture and theological understandings, his work in theater and how The Laramie Project brought him into that work, his time with Uprising Theatre Company, and his upcoming book, a hybrid of memoir and a trans reading of Scripture.
