Dr. Finlay Sees It Through by Alan Hart is a fast-paced story that follows a retired doctor (Dr. Finlay) who moves back to his small Pacific Northwest hometown to rebuild his former hospital based on a model of socialized, cooperative medicine. Set during the depression, the plot includes battles against corruption in the medical field, romances, and conflicts with a dishonest group within the American Medical Association. Alan Hart was the first known transgender graduate of the University of Oregon Medical School, earning his degree in 1917. His pioneering work on tuberculosis saved countless lives.
