Digital Transgender Archive
Roxanne Anderson is a Black gender non-conforming masculine of center person. At the time of this interview, they were the Director of Trans & Racial Justice at the organization OutFront Minnesota. This is the first of two interviews the Tretter Collection holds with Roxanne Anderson. In this oral history, they speak at length about their involvement in organizations that serve primarily youth or queer folks including but not limited to: The Trans Youth Support Network, Minnesota Men of Color, District 202, and Black Pride. They also talk about equality versus equity, the political goals of the broader professionalized LGBT+ movement, race and gender, and visibility. They end with their hopes for a future where binaries are erased from our consciousness.
