Jack Brown, Dressed in Drag, Holds a Dance Pose with Partner Charles Gregory
In the first image, Jack Brown and Charles Gregory stand facing away from each other, each with one hand reaching toward the camera, smiling. In the second, details within the photo have been colorized in red, green, and yellow. “Paris 21 February” is handwritten across the top. Brown and Gregory performed the Cake-Walk, a very popular dance, as part of “Les Joyeux Nègres" at the Nouveau Cirque in Paris from 1902-1903.
