An article from the San Francisco Enquirer about the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence's "Look Good, Feel Better" program, a fundraiser and wig drive held to benefit women coping with hair loss from cancer treatment. The program was started by Sister Phyllis Stein after her mother experienced cancer treatment-related hair loss in 1997, and has grown in scale since. This item was owned by Vicki Marlane and comes from her papers at the GLBT Historical Society. Vicki Marlane (1934-2011) was a legendary San Francisco drag queen and transgender woman. Marlane had a long career; starting in the 1950s, she performed as a female impersonator, stripper, and carnival sideshow performer, and she continued to perform in drag almost until her death in 2011. In her last decades, Marlane led the Hot Boxx Girls, the in-house drag troupe at Aunt Charlie's Lounge.
