A British prisoner of war in drag, wearing a delicate short dress, leans towards the viewer with his hands on his hips. Photographic postcard by E. Ohle, 191-.
Sincerely yours "Vera" "Crumps"
He is wearing a decorative head band and is standing on stage with dark background scenery. Prisoner of war 'Vera' in camp drag in World War I. The camp is not identified, but presumably near the Rhine as the photographer is Ernest Ohle, Kölln. Vera appears to be an accomplished performer, slim and elegantly posed, and could easily pass as a woman
Part of James Gardiner Collection: photographs of military, naval, and prisoner-of-war camp drag.
