Ernest Boulton (ca. 1848-1904) dressed as a convincing young woman, with styled hair, a hat and formal clothing; in close-up. Boulton was a theatrical performer specialing in female roles. Also known as "Stella, Lady Clinton", he became notorious after his London trial in 1871 for masquerading as a woman, and suspected homosexual offences (along with his house-mate and performing partner Frederick William (Fanny) Park), of which they were found not guilty
