A partial transcript of an extended oral history taken by James Dewsnap of Jackie Phillips, a female impersonator who had a long career as a drag comedian at Finocchio's and similar venues. The oral history was part of the writing process for Phillips' unpublished autobiography, Oh, What a Drag! The Life and Career of Wacky Jackie Phillips, Finocchio's Riotous Redhead, which Dewsnap ghostwrote. With prompting from Dewsnap, Phillips reminisces about friends, clubs, and encounters with famous people. She also describes her drag character, wardrobe, and process of getting into drag, as well as the amphetamine use which was common in her community.
