Digital Transgender Archive
This object is a silent 8mm film inside a private residence. It begins with 6 drag artists wearing makeup, dresses and false noses. The film continues and shows a man cooking in a kitchen, a drag performer getting laced into a corset, and a man putting makeup on another drag performer. A drag performer models a golden dress and jewelry. The performers dress each other in flowing robes and ball gowns, complete with rhinestone necklaces and tiaras. The drag performers model various fashion categories, such as casual beach attire, cocktail and formal ball attire. Some performers gesture to the camera, variously smiling at the camera operator, flipping them off, etc. We see the interior of a parlor, in which several drag performers are putting makeup on each other, putting hairspray into their wigs, and donning false breasts and other undergarments. Afterwards, the performers pose as if entering an opera house, with opera glasses and black party dresses and fur stoles. Below-the-waist nudity can be found in the following timestamps: 11:17–11:25, 18:17–18:36, and 23:54–23:10.
