Digital Transgender Archive
Denise Sudbeck is a white trans woman from Maine. At the time of this interview, she was in school writing a dissertation on queer theology. In life she also was a member of the United States Navy; a police chaplain in Alaska; and also worked as an American Baptist pastor for churches in Maine, Minnesota, and Alaska. In this oral history Sudbeck talks about facilitating meetings for Transcend, a support group for transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming people. Sudbeck also touches upon recovery, her romantic relationships, and her early family life.
