Dr. Daniel Dugi is an associate professor of urology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and is a specialist in reconstructive urology and in gender-affirming genital surgeries. His surgical and medical care also extends to treatment for patients with complications from genital and urological surgeries performed elsewhere, and working with providers in OHSU's network to provide gender-affirming surgeries and healthcare for non-binary, gender non-conforming and gender diverse patients. Dr. Dugi is interviewed by his fellow co-founder of the OHSU Transgender Health Program, Dr. Christina Milano. Together they discuss his early life and first exposure to surgery and patient care that sparked his interest in practicing medicine. The interview also covers topics such as the details of his training, past and current challenges to training resources, and standardizations for transgender healthcare professionals, as well as accomplishments and hopes for the future of the field. Related interview: Dr. Dugi also interviewed Dr. Milano on the same day. Users are suggested to review both interviews for the fullest account of the information conveyed.
