Richard Longnecker is a male from New York City who sometimes goes by the nickname Katherine. In this oral history, he speaks at length about being a crossdresser and spending over 20 years in the United States military. He talks about his early life, the perceptions of crossdressers in the 1950s and 1960s versus now, and returning home from the military and living as a woman for a few years, until he moved to a less tolerant area and stopped crossdressing as much. He was president of Tri-Ess, a group for crossdressing men and their wives, and he talks about his relationships with his ex-wives. Lastly, he talks about why he is a crossdresser, and not transgender.
