Venus de Mars is a white trans woman from Duluth, Minnesota. This is the second of two interviews the Tretter Collection holds between Jenkins and de Mars. At the time of this interview de Mars was the founder and leader of the band All The Pretty Horses. In this oral history she speaks at length about a documentary called Venus of Mars, fetish communities, her installations and public reactions to said installations, and censorship. She also touches upon working in the music industry, discrimination she has faced, drag communities, Cheese Whiz night at Parkside Lounge, and her involvement in an organization called City of Lakes Crossgender Community. At the end of this interview, de Mars performs a song called "Take My Shoulder".
