A letter from University of California Berkeley sociology doctoral candidate Elizabeth Bernstein to Deputy Attorney Hajime Tada regarding the case of Victoria Schneider v. City and County of San Francisco. Bernstein supports the claim of Schneider, stating that her own research has shown that Ms. Schneider was not the only individual subjected to civil rights violations and urges that the offending parties are held accountable. This item comes from the Victoria Schneider papers at the GLBT Historical Society. Schneider is an intersex activist and former sex worker best known for her 1997 lawsuit against the City and County of San Francisco, concerning an unlawful strip search during her booking at the San Francisco County Jail.
