Digital Transgender Archive

The Imperial Queens and Kings of New York were an LGBTQ organization founded in 1968 for queer socializing, charitable fundraising, and advocacy. Their members had a number of identities, including people who identified as transgender, cross-dressers, and drag queens and kings; in its publications, the group often expressed pride in its open-minded and diverse membership. Several key members of the group were Stonewall veterans, including Queen Allyson Anne Allante and King Stormé DeLarverie.
