Sometime during her teen years, Beth experienced what she calls her first goddess vision: looking down at her chest, and seeing breasts. Around the same time, Beth began exploring San Francisco’s hippie culture, writing and performing folk music. In 1972, Beth applied to Stanford’s experimental sex reassignment surgery program. As the years passed, she began connecting with the bisexual community, where she felt more accepted than among the lesbian community. AT 20, Bradley opened his first downtown club in Lexington, KY with the help of his brother and sister. By the 1980’s, Bradley was Lexington’s leading drag queen. In 1991, Bradley moved to California. When he volunteered his design skills at an AIDS fundraiser, a local designer recognized Bradley’s talent and put him to work. Bradley quickly developed his own company, with clients ranging from Elton John to Barbra Streisand. In 2016, after 25 years in California, Bradley bought 40 acres in Meally, Kentucky, and moved back to be near his family. While mostly taking life a little easier now, Bradley continues to coordinate parties and events, and still dresses in drag on to transphobic violence and transphobic language.","Brooklyn-born Ceyenne Doroshow grew up in a traditional Black middle-class family, religious and conservative to a fault. Ceyenne ran away from home multiple times, but she made the decision to leave for good around the age of fifteen. She eventually found her community, but it was a difficult place to discover. As an activist, Ceyenne has championed efforts to insert the neglected transgender identity into the national queer rights conversation. Always focusing on tomorrow, Ceyenne established the renowned Gays and Lesbians Living In A Transgender Society organization ( G.L.I.T.S.), which provides housing, transportation, and other support The city was segregated in his early childhood, and his parents were vocal advocates for the Black community. Charley struggled with mental health and addiction from a very young age; he estimates being admitted to psychiatric institutions over 70 times. Charley began transitioning at age 50, and since transitioning and getting sober his physical and mental health have improved significantly. Charley attended the all-male HBCU Morehouse College, currently serves on the LGBTQ Advisory Board for UVA, and is the board chair for on July 21, 2016 in the home he shares with his husband, Todd, in Lakewood, CA. Crisosto is a Native LGBTQI and Two Spirit advocate, as well as an educator, poet, and writer. In 1998 Crisosto moved to Denver and encountered the Two Spirit Society of Denver. The organization was devoted to restoring the traditional importance of two spirited people within Native American culture. They helped Crisosto reclaim his sexual identity and understand it within the context of his own cultural traditions. From 2008-2010 Crisosto served as the director of the Two Spirit Society of Denver. In 2009 he organized the 21st Annual International Two Spirit Gathering in Estes Park Colorado, bringing together a record number of the community. In 2011 he founded Two Spirit National Cultural Exchange, Inc. Based in Denver, the organization promotes the two-spirit identity and helps LGBT Native Americans connect with their tribal and cultural traditions. He was featured on MTV’s “Free Your Mind” Indigenous Writers Ad campaign. He has since published a book GENESIS (Lost Alphabet), performed his poems in a wide variety of settings, presented his work at academic conferences, and written articles about Two Spirit people. It took almost another decade for Crystal to learn there was a name for what she’d been feeling her whole life: transgender. Crystal joined and became president of the Gulf Gender Alliance and formed coalitions with other LGBTQ organizations in New Orleans. was born on August 14, 1958 in Washington, DC, where she grew up in a very religious family. Assigned male at birth, Earline felt increasingly disconnected with religion as she found herself feeling more feminine and realizing that her sexuality was different. As a teenager, she was sent to Maple Glen, and then Cedar Knoll, two correctional facilities that tried to change her into a straight man. In her 20s, Earline joined the Inner City AIDS Network (ICAN), funded by the DC Department of Health, to become an HIV peer specialist. She eventually became the transgender coordinator at the HIV Community Coalition (HCC) and has organized over 400 funerals, helping people find peace in their final place of Her father founded the New York Buddhist Church in 1938 and Hoshina buried questions about her gender identity under the pressure to “set an example” as the minister’s son. After years of therapy, Hoshina underwent gender affirming surgery at the age of 70. To her relief, the Buddhist church and study center were accepting of her change. Around age 11, Janetta confessed to her Auntie Thelma that she wished she could dress and look like her, so Auntie Thelma would sneak Janetta bags of clothing and jewelry. Janetta connected with a community of Black trans people in Tampa and started doing sex work to support herself. She struggled with addiction and found herself in a cycle of incarceration and recidivism. Janetta discovered her affinity for organizing while incarcerated and decided to dedicate herself to systemic work to help other Black trans people in carceral systems. Janetta met and grew close to Miss Major and began working devotedly with the Transgender Gender-Variant \u0026 Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP), which she now
